All begins with a dream when I was little for the novels I watch in television and so many of them where of people hat has company and has a lot of power and I thought â€Å"l want to be like them† and from there I became interested, but I never imagine it would be so much work that has to be done. I decided to make my practice of business administration in the pharmacy â€Å"Canvass Pharmacy’. This pharmacy is located in the arbitration Logic Valley, Canvass. I went there because of my aunt, she works there as a pharmaceutical. My aunt helped me so I could do the work there without any problems. Her boss, the lawyer Border, was very understanding and didn’t say no. Mrs†¦ Border was very happy and she said that I can start working as soon as I anted. She Is a really good person, as soon as I met her I Like her, as well as her work team, they were friendly to me. I was really excited about this Job because I was going to work In what I always dream of, what I wanted to study, what I wanted to be when I grow up. I wanted to achieve my goal and don’t defraud the boss because I don’t like to do a bad work, I like to make things right. Also I like to make people proud of me and the things I do that I know are well done, well Ohio doesn’t right? We all like that. The first day of my work I was really nervous because I didn’t know what I as supposed to do and how it was going to be. As soon as I arrived to the pharmacy everyone welcome me in a good way. The work team was good, they were all really cooperators and they make me feel part of the team for the few days I went there. They help each other, Like Is supposed to be. The first work they make me do was to organize medical recipes by date and numbers and then store them. I hate It that work, It was too boring and long because there were too many medical recipes. The boss and my aunt worked with me so I didn’t have to It alone and they correct me If I id something wrong. I always try to do everything right so they don’t have to be correcting me all the time and I have the ability to learn fast. After that I had an hour of break in which I can eat and rest. Then I keep doing the same thing. While I work I talked to the lawyer, she told me about her life and gave me advices about life and asked me if I was sure this was really what I wanted to be. Well she told me that I have to propose to myself so many things to achieve them. She suggested me that I should study pharmacy because according to her that is leaving a lot of money these says. She told me that her life is really good because she gained a lot of money and is her own boss; make her own schedule the way she wanted according to her convenience. That made me thought a lot of what I wanted for my future. I know that the money Is not all, but I wouldn’t mind having It. That day I finish working at 5:pop. M. The next day I went to work at 1 1 a. M. That day I was storing medical recipes once again. I was tired of doing the same thing so I told the boss. She moved medicine we’re in its respective place and has the exact amount it should. In that place I was working with my aunt and a few people in charge of that area. Lately that day arrive the owner of the pharmacy and him by itself presented to me and he was really nice, a friendly man with all his employees and clients. I finish my work that day at 4:pop. M. That was my last day, I only work two days. The following experience that I lived I didn’t like it that much because it wasn’t what I really expected. This helped me to notice that I don’t want to study business administration. I won’t deny that I share with really good people that were so dedicated to their Job and this is admirable because there are not so many people like them that give the hundred percent in their Job. I feel that this work isn’t for me because is something monotonous and I don’t like that; I love to try new things and learn something new every day if it’s possible. It was a good experience but sincerely this isn’t what I want to be. I decided that I would look for other branches of work to know what I really want to study. I was thinking of following the advice that the lawyer give to me in looking something that is leaving a lot of money these days, like Ewing pharmacist. Although I’m not so sure, but I’m really interested in psychology because I like to hear and help others and give them advice. I’m also interested in veterinarian because I love animals so much, they are the best thing in the world, not all of them of course Just the majority. There is a lot of things that I like and they are so great that is hard for me to make a choice, I would study them all if it’s possible, but we all know is impossible. Question: Discuss about theGoods and Services Tax. Answer: Introduction In New Zealand, a VAT type tax was first introduced in the budget of 1984. The legislation of the Goods and Services Tax 1985 got assent and was implemented on 3 December 1985. The section 8-1 of the GSTA 1985 states that GST of 15% is added to the most of goods and services that are supplied in New Zealand by the registered person in ordinary course of their taxable activity. In section 6 of the act, it is that any activity that is carried on continuously and regularly by a person for a payment is known as taxable activities (Kelsey, 2015). The taxable activity do not include working for salary or wages, hobbies, selling private items and making supplies of GST exempted items. The GST charged by the supplier on the goods or services provided is referred to as the output tax. This output tax represents the amount of tax that has been collected on sales and is required with the revenue department. The registered suppliers acquiring the goods or services are eligible for input tax credit on the GST paid as per section 3A of the GSTA 1985 (Thornton, 2013). This input tax represents the amount of tax that has been paid by the supplier for acquiring the goods or services. Therefore, in case of GST registered supplier if the output tax charged exceeds the input tax incurred then in such case the registered person is required to pay the excess to the Inland Revenue department. On the other hand, if the input tax paid is more than the output tax charged then in such cases the tax authority refunds the excess GST paid. The GST is charged on taxable supply and the classifications for the purpose of GST are zero rated supplies, exempted supplies and mixed supply. In case of zero-rated supply, the tax rate for the goods supplied is zero. The zero tax rates are primarily applicable for exported goods and services. The zero rates are also applicable in case of supplies of a going concern. The other classification of GST is exempted supplies and there are two categories of exempted supplies. The first category of exempted supply is financial transactions and the second category for exempted supply is residential accommodation (Claus, 2014). The last classification for GST is mixed supply where there are many supplies that are both taxable and exempted. In this situation tax is charged only to the extent of taxable supply and the input tax credit is allowed only for the portion of taxable supply. In case of mixed supply the input tax claim is required to be apportioned between taxable supply and exempted supply. The apportionment should be made on a basis that is justified and reasonable after considering the expenditure involved. The supplier carrying on taxable activity is required to register for GST as per section 51 of the Goods and services tax act 1986. It is also important to note that if the suppliers are not GST then the supplier is not eligible for input tax credit. If the turnover of the supplier is $60000.00 or more in the last twelve-month or it is expected that turnover will exceed $60000.00 in the next twelve month then in such cases the supplier is required to be registered under GST act (Gupta Sawyer, 2015). If these conditions are fulfilled then the supplier is required to register within 21 days for the GST. If these conditions are not satisfied then the supplier is not required to register for GST. On the other hand, if the turnover does not cross the required limit then the supplier is not required to register for GST but can voluntarily choose to register for GST. In order to register for GST IRD number is required, Business identification code is required, the taxpayer should choose fo r the taxable period and accounting basis. After all this requirements are fulfilled then the supplier can register for GST. The section 52 of the GSTA 1986 deals with the provisions relating to the cancellation of registration (James, 2015). If the suppliers stop the taxable activity and starts another taxable activity then the supplier is required to cancel the registration within 21days. The registration can also be cancelled if the turnover falls below $60000.00. The process of cancellation of registration depends on the number of process of filing return followed by the supplier. If the supplier files return online then the registration can be cancelled by filling a final GST return online. If the GST return is submitted in paper then the registration can be cancelled by sending a letter of cancellation to the department. In order to calculate GST the first step is to calculate sales, income, purchase and expenses. If the payment basis is followed for calculating the sales or income then all the payment received from the customers are added for the purpose of the tax. If the taxpayer follows the hybrid basis then the entire invoice raised during the period is added for calculating the sales or income. Then the GST that has been collected from the sales that is output tax is calculated. The purchase and expenses is also calculated by adding all the payment made during the year if the payment-received method is followed. In case of invoice method, the invoices raised by the suppliers are added to calculate the purchase or expenses. The GST that is paid for this supplies are the input tax. Most of the people who have cosmetic surgery tend to experience an increase in level of happiness for one or two years, after which they return to their previous level of happiness and are about as happy as they were before the surgery. So, professional service is just a falsehood. Hence, this is undeniable that it is extremely risky when a doctor is not properly trained and certified and this would be the main reason why the service is at low cost. 2.3.2 Cosmetic Surgery strains familys financial resources According to a study conducted by American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) (n.d.), in year 2009, the top cosmetic surgeries done by teenagers were breast enlargement, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, liposuction and lastly, abdominoplasty. No longer restricted to rich or famous, cosmetic surgery is now within the middle-class and even teenagers. The answer is definitely no as the disadvantages of cosmetic surgery often outweight its advantages especially when the protagonist is teenager. Some might ask, why is this so? Firstly, cosmetic surgery carries some risk of harm physically and mentally, even of death. Besides, it not only interrupts teens physical and emotional maturity but also burdens the teens family who choose to undergo cosmetic procedure. Thus, it is clear that teens should be discouraged to go under knife in pursuit of perfect beauty. 4.0 Recommendation In this beauty-obsessed society, outward appearance has played an important role in everyones life especially among teenagers who do not satisfy with their body and face feature. Despite cosmetic surgery, teens can choose to go for exercise and follow a healthy diet if they feel that their body is not perfect. Besides, teenagers can also put on some make-up so that they will look better and more energetic. If compared to cosmetic surgery, exercise and cosmetic product are definitely cheaper than cosmetic surgery and it is more healthy and deso not cause any harm to human body. Furthermore, government should take the initiative to ban teenagers from cosmetic surgery and cosmetic surgery tourism should be demolished.

Courtly Love: Troilus and Criseyde Essay

Courtly love was an idea that was based on a love that was many times illicit and chivalrous. Geoffrey Chaucer was an expert at portraying courtly love in the Canterbury Tales and in Troilus and Criseyde. In Troilus and Criseyde it is more focused since the story revolves more around the two characters while in the Canterbury Tales there are many stories and they are about multiple topics. Like courtly love the story of Troilus and Criseyde originate in France, but Chaucer wrote his version somewhere between 1381 and 1386. He took the liberty of changing the story some, but it is basically left intact. The story is about a Trojan prince, Troilus and the daughter of a Trojan priest, Criseyde and it takes place during the famous Trojan War. Courtly love is a romance that is forbidden in some way. Many times it is adulterous and it can be sexual, but often times it is not. Even if sex is not a part of the romance, there is an extreme amount of sexual tension between the two lovers. If the affair was not adulterous, then at least one of the lovers was attached to someone else in some way. It could be that one were betrothed or promised by a parent to another. It could, in some cases, be considered adulterous if one of the lovers has promised their lives to a higher calling, as to the church, the military, or to service in some way to his/her country. The fact that courtly love was forbidden made the tension more intense and so was the attraction. There is something in knowing that a person cannot have another that makes it that much more excitable. Therefore the lust and longing was much greater. Troilus and Criseyde do not fit courtly love in that respect. They are not promised to anyone else, however, because of the Trojan War, it was difficult for them to have a proper romance. Criseyde’s father does crossover to the side of the Greeks against his own country of Troy. This leaves Criseyde to be seen as someone who is not loyal to Troy. The son of King Priam, Troilus, would not be a suitable lover to one from the family of Calkas. That is the closest that the story of Troilus and Criseyde come to being a forbidden or illicit romance. Early in the story, Troilus is struck by the god of love he pines for Criseyde until he is miserable. Courtly love often makes the two lovers despondent. While he is pining and singing of his love, Pandarus, a relative of Criseyde, begs him to divulge the name of the woman who has his heart. `Therfore, as freend fullich in me assure, And final cause of wo that ye endure; For douteth nothing, myn entencioun Nis nought to yow of reprehencioun, To speke as now, for no wight may bireve A man to love, til that him list to leve. (Chaucer, Book I lines 680-686) Troilus confides in his friend and Pandarus agrees to aide him in a plan to obtain the lady who he loves. This is also a part of courtly love. Many times elaborate plans are conceived in order for one lover to obtain or be able to see the other lover. This has even carried into present day. Many find the planning of the romance more excitable than the romance itself. The third party who is often involved in courtly love in this case is Pandarus. He goes back to Criseyde and reveals the account of Troilus being in love with her. Now, nece myn, the kinges dere sone, The goode, wyse, worthy, fresshe, and free, Which alwey for to do wel is his wone, The noble Troilus, so loveth thee, That, bot ye helpe, it wol his bane be. Lo, here is al, what sholde I more seye? Doth what yow list, to make him live or deye. (Chaucer Book II lines 316-322) He glamorizes so that she will be more intrigued. He also reminds her of her advance in age. He is generous of his time and devotion to the affair that will not be his own because he has been unlucky in love and truly wants to see two people have what has eluded him. The third party in courtly love does have pure intentions. Criseyde is reluctant to receive the love of Troilus until she gathers with her female friends. She hears Antigone sing of love and then she sleeps and dreams of a white eagle with whom she exchanges hearts. When she awakes, she knows that this was a sign and that she should receive the advances of Troilus. This is the sign that is common in courtly love. Often higher powers are involved in the relationship and they do send signs to either one or both of the lovers. In the case of these lovers, it is Criseyde who has the revelation. Courtly love is often ritualistic. In the case of Troilus and Criseyde, there is very little time for rituals of the heart. Criseyde is on the side of the enemy of Troilus and so the act of gifts, songs, and poems cannot be something that would take long in the case of these lovers. Most of the planning in the case of this romance is on the part of Pandarus instead of Troilus. Pandarus busies himself with delivering letters back and forth between the lovers. Criseyde plays her part of in courtly love in being demur. It is not that she is not interested in Troilus, but she plays hard to get in order to create the sexual tension that is needed to achieve the affect. Not only is Troilus excited, but Pandarus is enjoying himself as well. Courtly love has to be a secret. A few are allowed to know, but only trusted friends or servants are a party to the affair. The love is supposed to be so special and intense that it would be ruined if many knew of it. This is the case with Troilus and Criseyde. Pandarus plans a meeting between the lovers at the house of Deiphebus. Troilus is to pretend to have a fever and go to bed. Criseyde, who will be a guest at the house is to be bought in to his bedchamber. They are both instructed by Pandarus to not tell anyone else. In titering, and pursuite, and delayes, The folk devyne at wagginge of a stree; And though ye wolde han after merye dayes, But now to yow, ye lovers that ben here, Was Troilus nought in a kankedort, That lay, and mighte whispringe of hem here, And thoughte, `O lord, right now renneth my sort Fully to dye, or han anoon comfort’; And was the firste tyme he shulde hir preye Of love; O mighty God, what shal he seye? Pandarus brings Criseyde to the bedchamber of Troilus where he declares his intentions to her. By this time there is a lot of sexual tension between the two. This will not be the when they consummate their love, but they do agree that they both want the same thing from the other. This is when many more letters are exchanged by the two. They are once again building the tension in each other. Pandarus then invites Criseyde to his home for dinner, while Troilus hides and watches the two. Criseyde stays at his home because of the weather, and it is then that he persuades her to see Troilus in the bedchamber. Tension is built again as in any good example of courtly love. Criseyde faints, and Troilus is terrified that she is dead. She is revived and they talk of their love. It is then that they are able to consummate their love. Reson wil not that I speke of sleep, For it accordeth nought to my matere; God woot, they toke of that ful litel keep, But lest this night, that was to hem so dere, Ne sholde in veyn escape in no manere, It was biset in joye and bisinesse Of al that souneth in-to gentilnesse (Chaucer, Book III lines 1408-1414) Criseyde must then go to the Greeks and their king, Diomede. There is always something that will separate lovers in courtly love. Since Criseyde’s father, Calkas, has joined the Greeks it leaves her no choice. Troilus relents and believes that she will remain true to him. For mannes heed imaginen ne can, Ne entendement considere, ne tonge telle The cruel peynes of this sorwful man, That passen every torment doun in helle. For whan he saugh that she ne mighte dwelle, Which that his soule out of his herte rente, Withouten more, out of the chaumbre he wente. (Chaucer Book IV lines 1695-1701) However Diomede offers her his protection and we automatically see a new romance in the making. Troilus pines the whole time that she is gone. It becomes apparent after much time has passed that she is not going to return. Criseyde is invited to dine with Diomede and this is when he talks to her about love. She readily agrees to stay with the Greeks and become his lover. And after this the story telleth us, That she him yaf the faire baye stede, The which he ones wan of Troilus; And eek a broche (and that was litel nede) That Troilus was, she yaf this Diomede. And eek, the bet from sorwe him to releve, She made him were a pencel of hir sleve. (Chaucer, Book V Lines 1037-1043) While this is taking place, Troilus is being warned through bad dreams that all is not well for him and his relationship with Criseyde. When the dream was interpreted for him, he refuses to accept that she is not to return and has taken a new lover. He writes her many times and her letters are cool. Once he sees Diomede wearing a piece of jewelry that he gave to Criseyde, he knows the truth and he is devastated. Troilus is killed in battle and is then taken to a level of the afterlife where he enjoys great pleasures. God woot, that it a sorwe is unto me! And dredelees, for hertes ese of yow, Right fayn wolde I amende it, wiste I how. And fro this world, almighty God I preye, Delivere hir sone; I can namore seye. ‘ Gret was the sorwe and pleynt of Troilus; But forth hir cours fortune ay gan to holde.
